New member with 91 Sentra GXE (yep, not a SE-R)
I bought a gxe for mainly to commute in, I am planning to buy SE-R in the near future, when I am out of college, and not broke.

Currently my gxe is in bad shape, mostly cosmetic, rust along the wheel wells, on the hood etc... Coming from a pre 97 jeep owner, I was super stoke for cup holders. I never did the pre 97 cup holder mod on it.

Anyways, I have a few questions about sentra.. I was watching a sentra meet youtube video, and I noticed most of the vehicles were 4 door (non se-r I am guessing? unless se-r came in 4 doors, too) and I was wondering with current GA16DE in there, is there engine swap that have same engine mount I can drop in or no? Probably non sr20 I am guessing? or does the sr20 engine mounts the same for the GA16DE?

Hey! I guess you got my reddit message!

Welcome!

A couple of answers:

SE-R was only ever 2DR with a rear seat.

You will find 4-door cars around here with the GA, and some with SRs. Where there's a will, there's a way, but those swaps are more involved.

Unless I'm sorely mistaken, the mount points on the chassis are the same, but the engine/trans mounts themselves will be different.

I am guessing the mounts on the SR20XXX are different size or something like that?

The engines are different, so the parts that connect the engine/trans to the chassis are different. That's about all there is to it. I can't give other info, but here are a couple of interesting links.

My bad I misread your post I thought you meant the GA16DE and SR20XXX had same mount points despite it being different engines but the mounts on sr20 were different size or something like that. I will read the links you have provided. Thanks!

I looked through the how-to's and didn't find what I was hoping to find. Anyways, just like on jeeps before 1997, they didn't come with factory cup holders. Any jeep cherokee after 1997 did, and you can use the 1998+ cup holders in pre 1997

Now, I do have a cup holder, but I got a double gulp from 7-11, and, well... it didn't fit. I was wondering has anyone been able to use factory cup holders from newer sentras, into the older sentra?

Either that or I buy small drinks..

edit; I think i found my solution. http://www.sr20-forum.com/interior-exterior-dressup-audio-security/71339-taurus-coin-cup-holder-install.html

im rocking a 4 door that is sr20 powered. not that difficult of a swap, just make sure you have everything you need first, including complete bay and engine harness.
