Default DanMartin's S13 Project Thread

Making this thread to keep a record of my car.

Some Pics of the car:

Well backstory goes like so:

Purchased the car December 2007. When it was purchased it had the following modifications:

Exterior:
Sportmax 502's
Silvia Front End
Carbon Fiber Hood
180sx Tail lights

Power:
SR20DET Swap
Custom Tubular Exhaust Manifold
GT3076R
Tial 38mm WG
Greddy Intake Manifold, Intercooler, BOV.
Crush Bent 3" Exhaust
AEM EMS, AEM UEGO
Walbro 255
Nismo 740cc Injectors

Suspension:
Megan Coilovers
Subframe Collars

Some unknowns:

Clutch/Flywheel

So there were some issues with the car, such as no P/S, no heater or A/C, Water pump was leaking, major compressor surge, and the worst tune I have ever come across.

So the first modifications I performed were new water pump, Nismo Power Brace, SPL Tension Rods, fabbed up 3" exhaust, and re-tuned the car.

So it was in that condition for close to a year, and I got tired of the car, and tried to sell it, however while for sale, it broke a rocker arm, which in itself isn't bad, but the shim was lost inside the head.

So that brings it to its current status. It will be down for a while, and I am taking this opportunity to re-do the car correctly.

Mistakes previous owner made that require re-do:

1) Megan = ****; Custom "Coilover" required
2) Subframe Collar = Band aid; Real Solid Bushings sitting in freezer
3) No P/S != Fun; New lines, pump, and Reservoir need to be ordered
4) 205 Front 255 Rear tire stagger = no braking, no turning; New wheels/tires needed
5) Aftermarket Sunroof = teh leak; removal and fill required
6) GT3076 and no brake upgrades = dangerous; new brake set-up required
7) Billy-Bob wire tuck = makes no sense; logical, neat rewire required
8) Clutch/Drivetrain harmonics in 4th gear at 2200RPM = drive you crazy;

Power is at a level I should be happy with, focus will go to all other aspects of the car before power. Some planned purchases in the near future after the head is back together:

1)Power Steering
2)Suspension (Coilovers, Camber/Toe Adjustment Rods/Plates)
3)Brakes, Wheels, Tires
4)Front and Rear Overfenders (40mm Front, 50mm Rear), molded to body, stupid air vents on front fenders filled (Need more tire, always more tire). With that much room, I should be able to stuff 295's or more out back and 275's up front. Which, I hope will be enough grip.

That about sums it up I suppose.

I will upload some pics of the head soon, as well as keep a detailed account of future modifications.

Please share your opinions/thoughts/criticisms with me.

Thanks for your support,

Dan Martin

Finally a project page. Now I'll have somewhere to post up pics. =]

Time to edit your signature with links to both project threads of both cars so I can find them easier when the need comes.

A 240SX with 414 WHP and 1987 325 with 475WHP.

I'm noticing a pattern here...

Throw a Greddy Power Extream 2 exhaust on that car and you won't lose any performance but make it even quieter until you get on the gas.

Good suggestion, but I don't believe in purchasing something I can make better for less money. Currently it has the stupid N1 on it, but also a Magnaflow resonator, so its not bad.

Might go to 4" if ground clearance permits.

The entire interior gets new sound insulation:

New piece for the trunk:

The stock carpet went over that piece. It was put in so the rear hatch area would retain it's floor without the spare tire in place.

I now have massive appreciation for anyone who puts sound insulation in their car. Holy bajeebus it's a job and a half.

Time for the intercooler to go black and never go back.

We took care of the sagging lip, don't worry.
