im having trouble with my maf i think i just installed a N60 i read that its the same as wiring up a Z32.

The only thing is one cable reads 12v and the others say .02 and when i turn on the car they go up to .29 is that normal for the ground one .

I thought it said it should always have 5 volt read but it dosen't even get to 1 volt read

Another way to tell is by wire size. We all know the ground is the middle on all the mafs. The 5v read wire is always the thinner gauge wire. ALWAYS!!!. The thicker of the two is the positive 12V. So for those with pigtails without the seperate gray sleeve this is the way to follow. Its fairly easy.

this is not the case, some MAFs do have a larger 12 volt wire put most of the pigtail wires are all the same size

yeah you are right, ive seen a couple instances where the z32 mafs whether pulled from a j30 or z32 who knows but the wires were all the same size so you had to either use your way or the jwt diagram. Its simple either way cuz its lettered and its basicly impossible to get it wrong, Again unless your a dummie, haha

But from what ive seen most pigtails have a smaller gauge wire for the signal.

wire
Quick question. Coming from the n60 maf pigtail, there's a small black wire running beside the red 12 volt wire, they are both outside the grey shiled. Does this black wire connect to the white wire that's inside the grey shield coming from the engine harness?

There's also a 4-wire DE MAF, which came on some versions of the EDM NX2000. That version lacks an O2 sensor, as well as EGR.

So what is the deal with the bare unshealded silver wire that protrudes from the grey harness on the z32 MAF that I have?

EDIT: here you can clearly see it between the thick white 12v+ wire on the far left, and the 2 black ground wires in the middle. I am assuming this is a ground or reduces interference? it does not connect to any of the pins on the MAF plug, it just seems to be inside the gray insulation.
