Thread: Stiff 1st & 2nd.. Tired Gearbox?

I am having problems with my Gearbox,

While driving it seems to take a lot more effort to get into and out of 1st and 2nd gear. All other gears seem normal.

I haven't had a good look yet as i won't have access to a jack/hoist/tools for a few more days. (could be a chance i could look at it tomorrow)

It SEEMS it happened right after i parked on a steep driveway and leaving it in gear for safety (while having the hand break fully locked of course) But this could be just a coincidence.

What could be the more likely problem here?

- Tired Gearbox? (box would of had just clicked over 200k KM)
- Faulty clutch? (but other gears are fine)
- Clutch need adjusting? (same as above)
- Old fluid? (Its never been changed in my ownership)

I might add that i do have a cheap quality short shifter but its been there for a few years.

Any information & input would be greatful so i can quickly look for the problem

Clutch adjustment would be my first place to check. Then maybe a fluid replacement.

Adjustment at the pedal end? Alright i will try that first after work and if that fails ill do a fluid change once i get it on the hoist.

Doesn't the GTi-R have a hydraulic clutch? Also make sure the line is bled properly if so.
