Front Cover Oil Leak?
Howzit? Can someone chime in please? I found out I have an oil leak coming from my front cover. However, not really 100% sure what part of the cover, but I see an oil drop forming right around the top area of the water pump on the cover side after I've wiped off the area. Also thinking it might be coming from my front main seal, but could not really see very well behind the pulley. The way it looks to me it's coming from the front seal, but then again it might also be running down from thetop part of the cover. My questions are: can I get away taking the front cover off without removing the upper and lower oil pans? From what I can tell, the front cover doesn't have a gasket, but uses silicone, is that correct? Here's the picture of the leak, sorry I only have my camera phone atm. Thanks in advance for the help, I appreciate it.

yea u gotta use RTV Silicone .

Its easier is it loosen the 2 oil pans since the oil pump filter(if that is the correct name for it) connects to the front cover .

i just did this recently bout a week or so back . i should of took pics

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, so I got to inspect it again after driving, to me it seems like it's really coming from behind the crank pulley and getting "thrown" all over the front cover and the pan. Can't really see any "bubbling" out of the top area of the front cover. I've also looked at this small cover plate (I think it's the chain tensioner adjustment) facing the firewall, and it doesn't seem to be leaking from that area too . Any thoughts that you all would like to share?

It's most likely you're front main seal that is leaking. Pretty easy to replace. Just time intensive.

front seal, normally when you see that just get a front seal for a USDM de from an se-r and swap it out...leave the face of the seal flush with the cover or it will still leak
