Where to get HIGH HP stuff for the GTiR....
Basically like the title says... I'm prolly gonna end up just having raxles or

driveshaftshop build me some 1000hp drag axles for my pulsar but as far as

tranny's go and rear diff I wondering where I can get that stuff to handle high

hp. I'm going to start building my engine near the end of this year/beginning of

next year and it WILL make over 700whp. I won't stop until it does...

driveshaftshop is a great company and they can def build you what you need.

what kind of parts are you looking to buy just drivetrain/powertrain stuff or turbo engine parts

from what ive read the gtir trannys are just as weak as our b13 trannys....

Yes you can...lol. Stratton they are weak as well as the B13's. That's why I want to start

resourcing my options with power upgrades as far as the drive train goes on it. I will start

to build my engine towards the end of the year and want everything lined up for that.

I know you can get Par Dog gearsets that will handle 1000hp but getting the cases to

handle that might be a different story without reinforcing them. So basically that leaves

the differentials. I'm not looking to make 1000hp but the car will make more than 600hp

for sure. But having that extra room will help.

you could always shot peen the gear set and cyro treat them and the housings as well, however this isnt going to yeild the gearset that much more sturdy

It's not the gears that are the problem really, and while the case is weak, no amount of reinforcing will fix the real problem. The real problem is that the gear shafts are long and under load they bend apart from each other. Once they bend apart enough the gear teeth are only barely touching and shred to pieces under load.

The best solution anyone has come up with so far from my point of view was kieron with his gear stack cuff. He replaced 5th gear with a dog bone shaped piece with bearings that held the stacks together closer to their center line. He never ran the transmission though, so no one knows how well it really would have worked.

I guess if you made the gear stacks out of titanium or some other strong metal they might not bend?
There is no cheap or even mildly affordable solution.

Here's are some pics of my PAR gearset along with the cuff I asked them to make for me as well. This is for my drag Altima which also uses the same series trans as the Bluebird/GTI-R but in fwd form.




A gearset alone will not keep the outter case from exploding, Keiron's friend from England destroyed a brand new PPG gearset because of the outter case letting go. A gear cuff can help this problem but if your car is going to be street driven your are going to have a problem on the highway because you will not have a 5th gear, reinforcing the outter case would be the only option.

Im wondering if someone has ever built a drag trans for the awd sr anywhere?

The guys from England did but, they didnt have too much success. I know that this issue has caused alot people to loose interest in the GTI-R but don't let that discourage you, together we can find a cure!! I will make this trans stand up to high power one way or another..
