Weird overheating issue
I´ve had this GTi-R swap for nearly a year and a half, and has ran great since. It is mostly stock, just boosted to 1 bar with a blowthru setup. Only minor issues with a relatively high idle (950-1100rpm).

Last saturday, we had a gathering with local car clubs at night, and when moving to one point to another, the car began building heat. I shut off the A/C and didn´t help much, temp went up to 230º, so I put on the heater to full blast, cause I couldn´t stop. I was not going fast, and barely making some boost, just following the other cars from the gathering, 30-35mph at most. I thought maybe I had a coolant leak or maybe a rad fan failure, so when we arrived to the final spot, I opened the hood to check. Everything was working. Both fans on, no leaks, coolant level normal. Also, it gobbled up on gas. It was a 15 to 20 minutes drive at most, and it ate around 1/4 tank. No smell of gas at all. I shut off the car and let it cool down for about 45min, and after that it was working completely normal, no overheating, no nothing. Now I am puzzled, I don´t know what happened, and don´t want this situation to happen again. Any ideas of what it could be?

I thought about thermostat and water pump too. Thermostat is almost new, I put in the Nismo unit some months ago.

I hope it´s not the water pump.. although I have a spare one laying around if needed. I´ll give the cooling system a flush this coming weekend.

i dloubt the water pump bc it would've happened on the way home too, once those blades go bad stop spinning or whatever the case, then it will keep doing the problem, not just an off and on thing, that's why i suggested most likely thermostat
