Crank scraper on Roller Rocker?
Has anyone done one of these? I'm looking at one of these for a motor that I'll be picking up in a week or so (salvage yard, '00-01 Sentra or '00-02 G20). Since I don't have it yet, I'm not sure it it's going to be narrow or wide, or if it will have that bulge that's mentioned. I know that the RR version has a lot of improvements that went into the VE, but I'm not sure how any of that applies to this area of the engine.

I've already sent an email to the crank-scraper folks, but thought I'd check here also to see if anyone has gone this route yet on this engine. I'll post anything I hear back from crank-scrapers.

Roller rockers are wide bottom end. The only narrow bottom end SRs were originally off AWD cars like the GTiR and some others as well to make room for the larger AWD transmission.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I have one installed on my S13's SR. Works pretty awesome I'd assume, lol. I haven't had any issues!

Here are some pics:

Installed:

Some notes from my experience:

1. It's a PITA to install
2. It took them months to get it to me, even though they said just a few weeks. Somewhere in the vacinity of 3-6 months. I actually forgot, since it was so long ago, but it was a wait, that's for sure, ha ha.

Is your S13 running a Roller Rocker engine?

So, the RR is the wide version, that helps a bit. I'm still needing to figure out if this version has that bulge that they talk about that interferes with airflow on the 4th piston. If that's there then I need to look into getting that removed. The steps listed on their website are a bit sketchy, they supply an aluminum plate that apparently gets welded in to fill in the bulge from the outside, but there would still be the inward bulge. Presumably this would need to be ground down? The site doesn't clarify that point.

Back to RR specifics, they state that the VE version of the motor has no girdle. So I have to wonder if the RR version has a girdle or not? Earlier SR20s do, but not sure about this generation.

No, the S13 runs an S13 SR20DET, lol.

As for the bulge, I would look at the upper oil pan. Next to where the transmission is, you'll see if there's a "relief" for the inspection plate. This is what needs to cut out. Here's a pic below. Not sure if the RR has it or not. I can look tonight on my B15 unless someone beats me to it. Not sure on the girdle though, never had an RR open before.
