Power Folding Mirror Thought
So I had a thought and was wondering if anyone else think this would work. So I have GTiR power folding and Lucino Power folding for my b13/b14 respectively. Now i know because of the RHD vs LHD putting RHD mirrors on LHD car the mirror reflection wont be angled correctly. I was thinking that if you popped the mirrors out and held a heat gun on them (to warm up the glue holding the plastic bezel to the glass) removing the plastic bezel, putting it on the front side of the glass and swapping them into opposite mirrors....would that fix the situation? I removed one from my USDM mirror to make sure the backside was a good reflective mirror surface like the front, and it is...

In theory, at least, does this seem sound reasoning to work?

How hard is it to take the mirrors out of our power folding mirrors? I always wanted to swap them out because of that horrible angle view.

I don't think so speedo. I believe the issue is in the internal mechanics of the mirrors...not allowing them to turn enough (when in a LHD config). It's been a while since I've had one in my hands but I don't think simply swapping the mirror glass will solve your issue.

Are you talking about physically not being able to adjust the mirrors enough to see? ...or "objects in mirror are larger than they appear"?

Were you able to swap the bases? On my S13, that was required to correct the angle back to USDM.

Easy, there are 2 clips that pop off if you wedge something between the mirror and the motor, then 2 hooks on the top you pull down and out to remove the mirrors just like the b13, p10........etc. I assume you are talking about the B13 mirrors though, becuz you cant swap USDM mirrors with the Lucino, they are shaped differently. (I'm not even sure you can remove the mirror from the adjustment motor on the USDM either though anyway).

I havent mounted them but in the "interchangeable thread" it says.......
"GTI-R power folding mirrors will fit a B13 (Have to have the actual mirror (lens) from the B13 cut down and swapped out with the GTI-R ones or you cant see out of them something about the mirrors being concave or convex for rhd lhd viewing purposes) with some wiring"..........

I was hoping maybe my idea would fix the issue becuz with the B14 the Lucino vs USDM mirrors aren't even shaped the same so I couldn't simply just trim and swap the mirrors.

That is correct.

OIC. I had to use that 'trim to fit' lens replacement stuff in the S13 when the glue holding the pass.side mirror glass didn't survive the TX heat. It wasn't perfect but a great solution until I could source a replacement<--->if you absolutely can stand the way it looks now.

So does the angle rotate enough to properly see down the sides of your car? That was an issue for the S13 that was resolved by swapping the JDM base to the USDM one.

Far as i know there isnt amble rotating action to get a good look down the side......cant swap bases on the B14 as the OEM USDM B14 is a solid non folding mirror (not even manual fold) and shaped completely different than the JDM. So there is no option there. I have a spare JDM mirror I might try my idea out on when i get them mounted. I'm just worried about cracking them when removing from the plastic clip in bezel piece cuz I cant source any from a junk cuz of the difference in USDM vs JDM

Umm take them out, flip them upside down and install on the opposite side?

Better idea, let me see if I can get a hold of some EU mirror glass. Same housings as the power mirrors but with LHD glass.

Swapping mirrors won't help you. The angle of the driver side (LHD) for the JDM mirror is more inward towards the door, that's the issue when using JDM RHD mirrors on LHD cars. The angle of the mirror needs to be pushed a bit more outwards but the mechanism inside the mirror housing won't allow you to go further.
