New AIR INTAKE - This plug, what does it do?
So I got a cone air filter and want to chuck my old stock panel filter and air box. However, this kit I bought has no place for the one sensor, not MAF, that's screwed in to the air box (see picture, the other end of that plug screws in to the stock air box).

What does this sensor do and what is it for? For those of you who have short ram or cold air intakes is there a relocated place for this to be plugged in? Any ideas on how to incorporate it into the design of this filter?

thats the intake air temp sensor pigtail.

just unscrew the sensor off your stock airbox, rip off the rubber plate on the flange part and then slip it into the intake system by a coupler

also take extra note to make sure that nothing is loose. if something gets eaten up, its the end of the good old sr20

Thanks for the info. So it doesn't really matter if the wires get squished? As long as it's reading the temperature of the air after the filter and before the MAF?

Yeah the coupler will seal it pretty good

I believe I've seen adaptors for ait sensors at pepboys before.

I'd just leave the temp sensor danging outside near the filter somewhere.

The sensor does not need to be in the intake, just plugged in. It's only used at start up.
