hard night driving, now worried
Just back from a very hard drive in the 200sx tonight, i think i completely fried my clutch disc, car seemed fine from 1st to 2nd, then 2nd to 3rd. Then 3rd gear just started roasting, i let off and smelled something horrible, almost like a rubber smell but mixed with over heated brake pads. I slowed down let it idle for a few mins, but the car doesnt seem to pull like it use too. Maybe its me being a paranoid freak. (i didnt get into it to hard either)

But before I rev'd to about 7600-8k through all gears (1st-3rd) I dont have any odd noises, no rods splitting the side of the block, I just think i fried my clutch real bad. Anything i should be worried about or am i just being paranoid like always?

I hope you didn't break any internals, that would just suck

What clutch are you running? You could just have heated it up and it did not like the little episode. It might be better once you let it cool again. You might want to upgrade depending on what is in there.

Yea sounds like you just glazed it up nicely.

I guess you never taught a non-driver how to drive stick. (Thats all you smell), hopefully the material can withstand all that heat you introduced.

Yup that smells like clutch to me haha. Squirlz is right though there is a chance that it will be more driveable after it cools down. Friend of mine did that once and it was ok after it cooled off. Guess it's almost time for a new clutch!

Might wanna have your flywheel resurfaced when you go to replace that burnt up clutch disc.

Then the answer is yes, you just toasted the clutch. Why would you run an OEM clutch on a boosted car anyways?

You'll need to get the flywheel resurfaced for sure now.
