B13 stock viscous LSD vs Nismo viscous LSd
I have found a Nismo viscous LSD for sale. There is no part number on it. Is there a way to know if it is really a Nismo viscous LSd and not a stock viscous LSD?

They look totally different.

Nismo makes a 1.5way clutch-type LSD. The OEM unit is an enclosed differential and they are very easy to tell the difference between the two since they are two different types, they look (and function) differently to accomplish the same task.

Can you post a picture?

Nismo made the viscous lsd P/N 38411-MBLSD and the clutch-type lsd P/N 38420-RS365. They probably stopped to sell the viscous type when they started to sell the clutch-type. SDE02 is stamped on the stock viscous and PZE03 is stamped on the supposed to be Nismo viscous. I don't know if that mean something.

Cusco makes a unit that is very much similar to the Nismo unit. Probably similar in price too, but at least it is still in production, unlike the Nismo units.

This is the improved replacement LSD assy that has a higher viscosity silicone which results in a greater amount of power being transmitted to the drive wheels. Fits B13 & B14 SE-R with M/T only, and only if with OEM LSD.
PN# 38411-MBLSD in catalog
$400, new in box.

so its legit

Bumping this thread back to life since I purchased a b13 race car, and noticed the LSD unit looked different.

I went to my large receipt book that came with the car and found in 2003, Courtesy Nissan shipped the previous owner an "SE-R LSD" and the part number was 38411-MBLSD.

Nismo FTW! I love this forum!
