Transmission list?
I thought I saw one somewhere but after searching and looking through the manifesto, I can't seem to find a list of compatible transmissions and their levels of greatness. I am about to start mild turbo build and I would like to source out the best trans I can find at a junk yard. I will also add that the tapatalk search function pretty much sucks.... Thanks in advance for any links or info.

you mean this:
Trans worksheet

Also has in there the different threads that have trans informtion (no links you will have to search). Sourcing straight from the JY would probably be a P11. My understanding is it's more dependable.

Sweet! Thanks man. I definitely didn't come across that thread. And just to clarify... P11 is 95-99 g20??

yes, and if you can't find one of those (don't know why you wouldn't) next in line is the B14. I would also keep an eye on the FS section. A couple people (mainly Andreas) have come across 20V 6 speeds which can go in it without having to open the case. You do need a lot of parts and will loose the hubs you currently have, but much more efficent trans.

P11 or B15, either one. And you want one with an LSD.

From what I *understand* the B15 is preferred for NA, the P11 for turbo applications.

Let me raid the Technical Information Library, and the Tech Section of the respective SR20 forums....

The 6-speed is from the Spec V Sentra.

Hope that helps.

The B14 had a *hotly debated* half-assed *fix* from Nissan that *probably* makes it better than a B13. BenFenner and I have gone round-and-round about it. I call it a wuss band-aid because Nissan knew the B13 tranny sucked and should have been re-called. Ben (who is faaar more mechanically minded than me) thinks it is a pretty good fix. However, there have definitely been some B14 transmissions (and late model B13 trannys, after the supposed "fix") that develop 5th-gear pop-out. I will concede that a B14 tranny is still probably lower mileage, and a better bet than a B13 transmission. I would not waste my time with either a B13 or B14 tranny ever again. YMMV.

Like was said. The P11 or B15 transmissions are your best bet for a 5-spd swap. For Turbo application you best bet, gearing wise, would be a '99 P11 trans. However, the '00-'02 P11 transmission is slightly stronger than the '99. For a mild turbo I would look no further then a '00-'02 P11 (G20t) 5-spd LSD trans. This trans has shorter 1st and 2nd gears but should be fine for a mild turbo set-up.

Thanks guys. I knew about the 6 speed swap, but I just don't want the added hassle of that swap. 99 p11 it is. Now I just have to find one.

@BenFenner should add this to the manifesto if it hasn't been already...

@BenFenner @Cliff

Hell, add all those threads that I posted above to the Manifesto. Only a few of them (?) are in the Manifesto yet. If the Manifesto is basically a "Table of Contents" or Directory, then those threads I posted should be in there.

2 cents.
