Rebuilding OEM greenies (cv question)
Where to order the parts for an cv joint rebuild? Would this be a gspec request?

Also, what specifically makes OEM green axles so much better than aftermarkets? Design, material, what? Green paint?

Material. The metal on the non OEM are soft and will often break - snap

Do you know specifically what the steel composition is?

What would it mater?

You want good axles get OEM axles and rebuild them. You want cheap axles for stock NA OEM motors get EBAY ones.

I dont mean to be rude but are you going to get axles made out of this material?

Hey, I'm not expecting you to know all the answers, I'm just wondering if anyone knows.

What about cv joint rebuild parts? Where can you find them?

Nissan courtesy parts (866)881-0275, they sell factory oem parts. you can buy just the outer joints if those are the only thing bad, not to sure about inner but at that point you probably need a complete rebuild...in which case you might want to contact Raxle (352) 377-5751. He doesnt have any nissan axles to sell but he will rebuild your used axle with oem materials.

I myself find that greg v is cheaper than courtesy nissan, but that is my opinion. Raxles you have to send them your old oem ones and they will rebuild them, I forget how much they quoted me for last year but it wasn't cheap.

The reason Raxles is not cheap is because they use OEM parts. I have a already talked to them and because of the hard to come bye source of OEM axles for SR20's he does not have any to sell. This is the same reason the rebuild is not cheap.

Goes right back to the, "Gotta pay to play" theme of older import cars. Just be glad you are not working on something even older. As the cars get older the crappier and harder it is to find the parts.

I plan on getting a set of OEM axles, taking them apart, then ordering whatever I need to rebuild from the dealer. Same thing I did with the tranny. Took it apart and just needed to order the fork. Always take used part apart and rebuild. Saves you time and effort in the end.
