Only thing i can think of is to deal/fix rust as soon as you find out about it. The cancer may never stop as long as there is salt every winter, but you can delay the perforation.

I know what you mean , when i 1st moved to South Florida from Chicago, both of my door jambs were rusted clean through, both of my under the front doors had rust holes .

I fixed both of the problems and it still delayed the infection.

As soon as i get some time i may do a writeup in the how to's.

i have some rust on the body of my se-r. not alot but i had to sand it out and hit it with some rust killing spray paint. it came back but i did a crappy job last time.

tomarrow i will be scrubbing my wheel wells of any salt with degreaser. drying with 90psi of blow gun. then laying a healthy coating of zink rust killing primer, followed by half a can of under coating per wheel well.

just find where the rust is...san it down to get the rust off..i would use a 200-250 grit and wetsand it..just fill up a bucket with water and constantly keep the paper wet...and once you get it off from in the wheel well just clean off all the water and let it dry..then hit it with some good quality rust proof paint, i would do about 2-3 coats.
