5th gear repair done but have a problem
my buddy and i are having a problem.. he went ahead and bought the 5th gear kit. were finished and we are having problems installing the case. it needs abought 1/4 inch to go. but wont budge we bolted it down and the gears wont turn we took it back apart and everything seems fine. but i did notice the main shaft is rubbing on the final drive. i think its first gear. i dont know if thats the problem.. just things are not going in as planned. any help would be great at this point.

I would suggest looking at the book and making sure everything looks like it's in place right..

Are you lining up the upper bearing on the output shaft (at the very top of this picture) with the hole in the case? It needs to slide into the case, and then the output shaft usually needs to be pulled up to lock the C-clip in place.

Are the shift fork dowel and rear idler gear dowel lining up with the case properly?
(See them in this picture.)

we figured it out it finally it slid right on. he didnt install the reverse gear shaft pin correctly. i dont know how he would miss that. we found that out when we pulled the large freeze plug off and peeked while putting it on.

thanks guys!!
