obd2 b14 to obd1 sr20
Hi guys. I have a ga16de 5 speed in a 96 200sx and I have all parts to do a sr20 (u12) swap on it. Some problems I have thought about is the change from obd2 to obd1 and I am worried about my accessories working such as my a/c and dash because of the year change. I read that the ga a/c bracket can just be modified and it will work can somebody comfirm that? I would like to keep it as a daily driver thats why i want my a/c. Im not worried about smog. Also will the stock plug fit into the sr20 alternator and how do the fans need to be wired? Does anybody know how to do this switch? Is it worth putting into the b14 or should I find a cheap b13 to drop it into? Does anybody know of complications while doing the swap so I can try to avoid them? Thanks for your help. Any other help such as how to's would be greatly appreciated. . Sorry for all the questions im a noob in need of help. lol

The ga16 alternator plug on the harness will fit the sr alternator,(mine did anyways)Also i would get an obd2>obd1 conversion harness from zer099 on sr20forum. I got one from him and it works awesome. I just completed my det swap in my ga sentra(dealing with a nasty missfire). I dont know about the AC tho because i didnt keep mine.

Good luck

well, i had the obd1 sr harness as well and thought i could make it work but the under dash plugs are totaly different and you would have to hard wire and trace down every single wire to make it work. You are going to have to get a 95-97 200sx se-r harness to make your sr work in the 96. If you have alot of time and are good with wiring and have a ton of patience, then you can wire the obd1 harness in but if not, go the obd2 harness with obd2-obd1 conversion harness....its much easier.

And that will allow me to use my speedometer and everything else? Is the conversion harness used to hook up to the engine and the ecu? And do you know where I can get the conversion harness from?

Oh and will the obd2 harness connect to all the connectors on the 92 sr engine? Thanks

the conversion harness will allow you to run an obd2 engine harness on that engine and run it as obd1 in an obd2 b14. There will be a few un-used connector plugs on the obd2 harness. Also i think there might be one or two you have to modify or something....depending on what MAF you use, you will have to modify that plug. There is a how to thread on how to wire that one in. Its very straight forward and tells you exactly how to do that one. Just try to find a harness that someone is selling that has already ran a u12 swap in a b14 and it will be easy. Someone chime in if i am incorrect.

Give me untill tomorrow and i will have an email for you of the guy who makes these harnesses. They work awesome. im using one and its great.

Ok thank you for helping me. And for the ser b14 harness it's just the upper one that plugs into the ecu that I need correct?

Will the b14 ecu harness with the conversion harness be able to support a turbo when that time comes?

I just got a 96 ser harness and my underdash wiring harness doesn't hook up to the ser harness. Did I not get the right one or do I have to modify something or what? Thanks.
