Thread: Code 34-Knock sensor no cel light??????

Im getting a code 34-(knock sensor) with Nissan data scan in my B13 but there is no check engine light being produced on the dash ??? I kind of confused because this is a serious problem and the light should be on for the knock sensor shouldn't it.

I've had the same problem. I think with knock sensor it needs to happen a few times before the light comes up. I'm guessing this is done so that people don't panic after one missfire/knock.

So just replace the sensor and I should be fine vadim? what conditions would cause knock I mean my engine is all stock??

Sure 34 isn't Crank Angle Sensor? That's what it was on my B13. Just swapped out the sensor on the back of the dizzy and it went right away.

Let me recheck that I could be screwed up too....

Yup I would change it, especially if you have crappy gas in your area.

I just picked one up from these guys, $20 shipped for a brand new OEM knock sensor.

I have also had that code. Digging into the FSM revealed that the knock sensor code will not trigger the CEL. I was wondering why the car didn't seem to be running right.

yeah the knock sensor light only comes on when its stay knocking for long period of time, can't remember how long it is. but the cars ecu will run knock maps straight away so your'll be running rich to save the engine. check to see if it cracked or the wires have come off, this happened to my car

Yea, most Nissan will not set a CEL with a Knock sensor code ...
