Altenator not chargin below 2000 RPMs
Anybody know of any potential reason why the altenator wouldn't charge below 2000 RPMs? I'm pretty stumped on this one. I've done everything short of replacing it which I'm on my way to get another one to do just that.

TIA,

Lance

Its just going bad.

You need to replace it. Buy a used Nissan Unit, do not get a remanufactured aftermarket one.

Yep..
Get a later model B14 alty or a 2000 Altima. The pullies will be different, so you will need a different size serpentine belt. The amps are more (supports bigger sound system ) and unit will be newer than B13 units.

They tend to go bad over and over in short order.

aka lifetime of replacing the alternator when each fails after a week. WHen i had a b13, my original alt. was rebuilt by a local shop and it held up. Can't say the same for remanned ones from autozone, advanced, etc.

No way, Every once in a while yes maybe you might get ahold of a ****ty one. I work at

Schucks part time and we sell remaned ones and they are just as good as any. I have

put on reman ones in the past on alot of my cars and never had any issues...

Myabe you got lucky and maybe Schnooks auto has a secret alternator recipe. But; yes way. Many have seen multiple alternator failures from NAPA et al. The warranty is no good if you have to use it over and over.
