Thread: Throwback Thursday: 1983 Dodge Shelby Charger

I remember mine fondly even though it was nothing but trouble. That rough, lumpy idle reminded me of a "cammed up" V8. A week after buying it with 55,000 miles on it the muffler fell off. About a month later the right rear shock absorber shit the bed. The carb never worked right and probably needed a rebuild. After about 6 months and 15,000 miles the timing belt broke. The thermostat went south so I drove around with gallons of water and the heat on high with the windows down for a while. Got that fixed and the clutch started slipping, so I had that replaced. The starter didn't like to work when the engine was hot and then the carb really went to hell. After two fun years of ownership I traded it in on my 1989 Ford Probe (Mazda MX6) which was probably THE most reliable car I ever owned.
