Anyone good with US trucks?
Been thinking of getting something fairly cheap as a strict tow duty vehicle. I've decided I will not daily a truck so not spending too much on one. Mainly something that will sit until I decide to tow my car to the track or something. Chevy Silverado's seem to be fairly cheap these days. I also have a soft spot for the 00-05 Yukon's and Envoy's Anyone have any knowledge on these? I have seen a ton of people using them to tow their stuff around. I don't see why either couldn't tow a dolly with my sentra on it with ease (car weighs around 1700).

Been stuck awake craigslist hunting. Even some shit like this would be plenty to do what I need it to do.

98 chevy 1500 extended cab 6ft bed

http://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/4109101237.html

Really don't want to go over the 3-4K area unless its something I really like.

00-06 gm's truck known issues.

trans goes around 110-140k, dont matter if it's taken car of or not.
brake lines rust, someone it's the left front or in my case all 6 lines.
instrument cluster light goes out. bulbs require solder.
intake manifold gaskets, all LSX tends to leak around 140-150k.
lifter noise when you use regular oil.

other than that, I love my Yukon! lol

edit: 99 and under Gm trucks has the same issues but add the Fuel pump/tank.

F150 and dodge has there share of issues also. I just perfer the GM

edit #2, dont forget the GM comes with the infamous 800hp junkyard LQ4, LQ9, L59, L33 etc.

Lol. I guess the main concern is the trans. Other stuff I can deal with. I could have bought an 01 Silverado from my buddies dad for fucking 600$ but he didn't tell me until it was sold and in the new owners hands. Sucks. I know that thing lost its trans and also had brake line rot from hell. Besides that I feel like they would be decent.

4L60 and 4L80 are not that expensive and there's plenty of places that can rebuild them to be bullet proof.

even if you get a new one from GM, they are like $1800 and has a 100k miles warranty!
