It IS a fun car. I have one as well, a 1988 model. Had a crate shipped from the US with a Sportbak, along with other goodies (including a tranny with LSD, axcles, mounts and such for a future swap to CA18DET).

Check out www.nissanexa.com (EXA being the AUDM/JDM designation of the Pulsar NX).

The fun thing is, it's the predecessor of the B13 NX. There's not many options for customizing it, though. However, coilovers for a B13 will fit the Pulsar NXs.

So yeah, it's a fun car, don't expect a lot of room in them though (backseat/trunk). In the front though, you'll have plenty of space.

However, what little space you have in the trunk is kept, even when removing and storing the T-tops, because there's a double floor in the trunk, where the spare and the T-tops can be stored.

Because it's an Arizona-based car, it probably won't be very rusty, so that's a good thing.

The only thing that strikes me as odd, is the fact that it's listed as an 1.6 (CA16DE), while the '89 SE-model is usually a CA18DE (the other being the XE, E16i up to 1989, GA16i afterwards). On the other hand, it doesn't have the updated seats and the electric windows the '89 models have. So maybe an early '89 model.

If you can find a Sportbak for a good price (some can be found), you have a very special car, a station-wagon with removable T-tops.
Also, if you're from a state where there's a lot of sunshine, you can even drive around without the trunklid, creating a semi-convertible car.

So yeah, if you have the money to spare, and like the car, buy it! Even for an old car like that, it has many options, like the mentioned A/C, but also stuff like electronic mirrors, seatbelt-warning, dimmable dashlights, speakers in the back (just like the B13 NX).
Also, it looks REALLY clean!

EXA's are quite rare over here in Australia, you only see maybe 1 or 2 a year if you are lucky.

Seems that there's a particular concentration if you look at the states. Or at least it seems like that, from what I've read.

Over here (Europe/The Netherlands), they're rare as fuck. Only 11 known in the country, of which 5 are owned by a single person :P

Rip the powertrain out and put it into a B12 . Or you could just keep it and put a CA18DET into the Pulsar.

Never owned one but have gone through plenty of them at the junk yard. You have to wonder why they are there, if they haven't been hit.

On the late 80's models, the body panels all seem straight, even after the car has taken a hard hit. The interiors seem to hold up to the test of time and interior panels seem to be of better quality than even the B13, except for the steering wheels.(sun rot)
They have a lot of thoughtful extras, including room for big speakers in the front door panels. Some of them even have hydraulic clutches

Like any other Nissan, if you like the car and wanted to spend the time and money you could probably upgrade them with parts from later Nissan models.

The body/interior styling is so dated it looks kind of cool.

i'm pretty biased but it definitely is an fun car to own! check out my build if you want to know more or just ask me about them.

mine has a custom swapped sr20de+t... my brother just finished his ca18det. we're both gonna try and get them tuned with Jamie at Marsh Tuning next week.

luckily they're cousins with the b13 so a couple things are swapable. parts are rare. but it's a unique look which is why i love it.

Still, Rockauto has tune-up parts for them!
