hOw to: locate your starter bolts for removal replacement
well, i was having trouble figuring out which bolts everyone was talking about to remove the starter so i could replace it with a new one.

the FSM shows it from a GA16, so i couldn't apply the figures they privided very well to my car.

this is from my 1995 b14 (sr20) and i was easily able to get these bolts out from the top of the car
(after removing the battery and air filter box out of the way)

i found the two 14mm bolts to take off the starter
NOTE: they are the only 14mm bolts in that area.both bolts are pointed towards the passenger side.

passenger side |///////////////[] drivers side

***********************
[from this point forward, keep in mind i already had previously taken out the Y-bracket thats normally in the way during this operation]

if you move the black rubber protector thing out of the way you'll see these two blots
(under the black rubber thing)
i JUST removed the lower one with a 13mm socket.

leave the top one alone, cause u can't really tell from the bottom of the car, but it attacthes back to itself

watch out though as you pull down though, when you tug on it to pull it off, dont let it clonk you on the head, the little sucker is heavier then u may initially expect.

lemme know if i need to make any corrections or additions

driver side underneath the intake manifold. go under your car and look up by the back of the motor you will see it

If you have that 'H' brace in the back of the motor it blocks the view of the starter and it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to replace the starter with that brace in place. I suggest you cut or on bolt that brace if you can. It will make the job so much easier.

It's not needed. You know the Japanese overbuild everything. I have none of the intake manifold braces installed since I installed my thermoblok spacers. The intake manifold ain't going anywhere without them. I was a little worried when I couldn't get them back on, but I was speaking with GregV, and he was saying he didn't run them either like alot of ppl.

Thanks man, that is good news. That's one less thing I have to worry about then.

You should have heard me today . Dude I just don't see any way to take that thing out. No damn room in there to remove that thing. At times like this I sure miss my Z. One bolt and one nut and the starter was out of there.
