Shift selector seal?
My trans was leaking where the selector hooks to the linkage on the back. Is there a seal that goes there that I can replace?

Yes, there is a seal there. I've only ever replaced it with the transmission off the car and the case open. I think it might be possible to do it with everything in the car though, if you can get that shift selector provision off of the end of the striking rod. I think it is held on by a drift pin. Don't quote me on that.

I have the whole trans apart. I broke 3rd gear back in oct, and just recently took the trans out to fix it. I've got some other stuff ordered for it, and figured now would be the best time to check on that seal.

Looks like you're all set then. Get the seal and a new drift pin (for the striking rod you'll have to disassemble) and you should be good to go. These are pieces included in the 5th gear pop-out repair kits by the way. So the 5th gear pop-out thread has pictures and part numbers.

Edit: Apparently Greg's image isn't working anymore, but the Courtesy Nissan ones are.

The seal is labeled 30401-G in this image (keep in mind that is not a real Nissan part number).

The striking rod drift pin is labeled 32873 in this image (keep in m ind that is not a real Nissan part number).

And off to the right you can see there is a drift pin holding the shift selector provision onto the striking rod so that replacement while the transmission in the car should be possible ad I described.
