Excessive blow by, 1.5 quarts missing after ~10 pulls
As the title states, my engine is producing LOTS of blow by and I need to do something about it. Before you say the rings are effed, it has JE pistons and the rings were gapped according to the specs JE sent with their pistons. The blow by is so much that I've just run a rubber hose from the T fitting on the valve cover straight to the ground, for now. I tried a cheap ebay catch can but it was too restrictive and caused the dipstick to pop out.
So what are my options here? I've read the 2 crankcase ventilation threads and they were semi-helpful, but I haven't actually tried anything yet. I was thinking my first step would be to remove the PCV check valve on the valve cover and plug the port on the intake. I was thinking maybe the check valve is leaking and actually pressurizing the crankcase? Another thought is that the oil loss is probably due to oil being blown out through the port on the block, which I have removed the factory catch can and run a hose directly to the T fitting, so that is certainly not helping.
I would love to see how you big turbo guys handled the insane amount of blow by these engines produce. Give me some ideas and suggestions.
Same motor/setup, but it is in a different car that I don't have photos of. Only difference is the breather has been removed and I ran a hose from the T to the ground.
