Ve pump on det block, what oil pickup mod do you do?
Like title says, i cant use the ve pickup cause it hits the det tray a pan on the inside of the det block and the det pickup holes are just short of the ve pump holes to bolt it to...do u guys just widen the holes a little bit on the det pickup?

no i believe most run the ve pickup tube. I know for a fact the pickup tube clears the de baffle just fine. I know for a fact you have to notch the bracing on the pickup tube to clear the de/det girdle if you havent done so that needs to be done. As for the baffle, I would say just notch the baffle where its hitting as well. Its not going to hurt anything.

Just did this over the weekend. I bent the lip on the baffle where it hits and just use the ve pickup. I dont see any other way that would work since the det lower pan is smaller than the de and ve. Put a few miles on the motor and so far its good. Fyi the depth of both pan are the same.

Again it depends on which style ve pickup you get, ive seen some that have a brace on it that hits one of the main bolts on de/det motors. At least my newer style pickup that i got from Gspec had this and i had to notch it. However if your using an older style ve pickup tube like the one that ive seen in my old ve and my buddies ve motor, then you wont have that clearance problem I dont believe. Other than that you just need to notch the baffle. If yours does not have the brace that im talking about on the pickup tube going from the tube to the flange thats bolted to the oil pump then dont worry about it.

The baffle is the part that gets bolted to the upper pan that goes around the pickup tube, the tray as your referring to again assuming we are talking about the same parts here.

no i had the newer pickup tube. So i had to notch the brace on the pickup. I have a ve block using a de crank, de girdle, and de upper and lower oil pan. So mine didnt have clearance problems with the baffle like the det's have. Only thing i had to do was notch the brace to clear one of the headbolts.
