BAD N60 MAF Maybe?? Common?
Well if you read my other thread I had a bad ECU ( well bad solder job on the header ) Replaced that and car fired right up.

I believe I may have a bad N60 MAF let me know if anyone has seen this behavior before.

 • Car - 92 SE-R
 • ECU - CALUM Basic w/ N60 370 AVENIR tune
 • MAF - N60

Wired the MAF per Miko's thread : http://www.sr20-forum.com/howtos/9138-nissan-maf-wiring-dummies.html

On my laptop with Nissan Data Scan I am seeing the following when the MAF is plugged in

5.12 Volts

Now I have this MAF in a BILLET MAF Box TURBOTank makes and ive double checked and believe its wired correct but possibly a bad MAF.

So on the N60 you have 2 grounds that go together and a signal wire and a 12v wire.

The power wire reads 12volts, the signal wire that exits the maf is reading 9volts.... What could be the problem debating if its a bad MAF

From reading MIKO's thread its wired correctly anyone ever see this with an N60?

Hate to buy a new MAF if ones not needed but it appears this one maybe bad.

seems shorted somehow. or wired wrong? There could be an issue in the harness wiring. Hard to say for sure, but having a spare maf around should be mandatory anyway.

Isn't the N60 the same as the Z32? I guess unless you bought it new
you wouldnt be able to tell if it is the mafs besides unplugging it and see how it runs.

With the z32 mafs, you run it, see how it feels, and if you unplug it and it runs
the same, or similar, its a good chance its the mafs, especially if its bouncy around
3k.

Coheed, Its possible that it could be shorted It has been removed from its stock housing and moved to a billet housing like this -

Wiring ive trippled checked I appear to get the proper voltage in on the power wire 12volts then you have 2 grounds and then the signal wire coming out that im getting
the 9 volts..

On the inside to install all we really did was unsolder and re solder the connector do these usually go bad or you guys think its more than likely a short on the install. I should of tested before I bought this used so its never been tested prior to installing into the billet box.

Are these known to go bad or are they pretty dead nuts reliable.

Ya I think you should open it up and see whats going on. Maybe some solder got where it shouldn't have.

In my experience these don't go bad nearly as much as the stockers. ymmv. The signal wire isn't supposed to read 9 volts ever iirc its supposed to read 0-5 volts. 5 volts being maxed out.

I've got a small pile of these so let me know if you need another.

Were you running a regular N60 prior? Assuming your on an ECU with an N60 this should just work, With that being said Ive never ran my car on the N60 until now and its running like crap.

I have the luxury of having a consult cable and im getting 9v out of the signal wire so Im trying to find out what I did wrong, maybe your seeing the same issue im seeing. I have contacted the creator of the MAF box maybe we did something wrong or I didnt type something right in the directions but I had him verify them and give his blessing prior to sending out.

I am seeing the same behavior.... If you have a voltmeter measure your voltage on the connector.

on Power im getting 12v but on signal 9v which should read like 1v on a calum.

i have been running it for 3 years now. dont have time today to hook up my consult.
in the instructions it has you measure the ohms and mine are at 0.0 so its all connected.
I DONT GET IT!

Hey man, Understand 100% this is new for me too and im experiencing the same thing. I would like to know through the consult if you are seeing 5.12v

Again I understand your frustration I was part of the groupbuy as well and mine is doing what yours is it appears as well. I have emailed TurboTank whos is the builder and who gave the directions to install.
UPDATE - Spoke with Tank he may know the issue. Sending him a pic asap to hopefully resolve.
