B15 Transmission rebuild.
I recently rebuilt my b15 open lsd transmission in order to install a phantom grip. After getting everything put back together and in the car ( b13 ) I realize i can't shift into reverse or 5th gear. I remember i was very anal about putting the reverse idle gear back in correctly. I followed a few guides step by step.

Any ideas?

The first image when i first opened the case, partially torn down

The second Image is everything back together minus the oil trays

Is it back in the car? Or have you pulled it back out?

Try going underneath and see if you can shift it. Just in case there is something not right at the linkage. If there is nothing there obstructing it, I recommend pulling it and try shifting it on the bench.

That would be my guess, I was hoping for your sake it was an obstruction. Always make sure it will shift in to all gears before installing.

I remember there being an interlock system...spring,ball and a pin that can block movement of the fifth-reverse rod. it can be a pita.

I can't link directly to the illustration, but it is on MT-19. See items 17,18,19 and 26.
