The great 70V
I am looking to build a few 70v transmissions when I get home, currently have a 02 g20 70v and am looking to get two more b15 70v's to rebuild. Besides the final drive only fifth gear is a different ratio. I am going to be popping in QG 70a guts into these transmissions. It is cheaper and faster and the gears themselves will also have less mileage on them then rebuilding the 70v trans themselves. What are your guys opinions on having the VLSD units rebuilt? I know MFactory is building some LSD units that will fit these transmissions and that may be the best option. And one last thing, will only 70 series guys work in a 70 series? I am trying to find out if the 50 series will swap anything over, final drive if anything maybe? First new thread Woot!

Go for it. 70V trans are hard to find these days and 6speed swaps are not an option for some.

My thoughts are that I could potentially have three transmissions for the price of one 6 speed with possibly three different ratios. Now I just have to find a different final drive other then 4.4 or 4.1. I might end up getting MFactorys 3/4 gears if they are ever made. And also going N/A and the power levels I am looking at the 70V will do me just fine. And QG 70 trans are just to cheap and easy to find if I blow a transmission.

You won't be able to use the 70a pinion shaft in a 70v box.

The pinions and ring gears are matched pairs, the ring gears cannot be interchanged either, V boxes have more bolt holes.

The pin gear will mate with the p11 transmission though, will it not? same final drive I believe.

Quick question for the transmission gurus. What gears can I pull/ press off? It looks like to me that you are only not going to be able to press off first gear on the main shaft and the pinion gear. Or can you also not press off second on the main shaft?

First and second gear on the main shaft are not removable, they are part of the shaft. Now to see if any late 00' and on 50 or 32 series jdm boxes have the right innards that I could swap anything over into a 70v
