FX500 Slipping
I got a fx500 4puck installed for a bit over a year now and has started to slip where I cant apply any more than 25%throttle when cold, once warmed up it is a little better but still slips if more than 50% throttle.

I have removed my gearbox twice now, 1st time I notice than the TB was not sliding back all the way, fixed that and started to work a bit better. Now the disc looks worn out. Can I just replace the disc with an act 6 puck since it has only been a bit over a year so the pp might still be good?

Would really hate to have to dish out for a new clutch kit as money is hella tight right now. Clutch was installed new with a new fidanza insert and broken in.

Or even using the (can't believe I am saying this) xtd 6 puck? at least it would give me enough time to save up for new insert and clutch kit.

How much power are you running? my fx500 has been in my car for 3 years and holds up to 535whp. You should be able to replace the disc only but you should also replace the friction surface on the flywheel. I would also over the pp surface with a emery cloth.

I am most likely around 300 at the crank. Stock gtir swap and t2871 running 15psi. Jun ecu.
No racing events anytime soon so won't be abusing it much. I don't beat on my car anyway. Never even topped out 4th yet.

So basically just looking something to get by as it is my daily. The friction plate looks good too. No warping, put a straight edge to it and checks out for a used unit.

On this island we mostly have stop and go traffic and I do a lot of driving.

Try loosening the clutch cable a bit.

However the fax series do not have a lot of meat on them so it may be worn.

No clutch cable, it is hydraulic. But I did put some washers to space out the slave a bit more. We will see tomorrow.

I am wondering is the disc is glazed causing it to slip.

It did have a slight hard/shinny surface t the pads. So I believe so. But I found another issue. I guess my slave was extending too far out and applying slight pressure on the pp. Added some washers and now it grabs a bit better, still slips but I can be more aggressive with the throttle to pull out into traffic at least.

So my conclusion is that the slave has been applying pressure on the pp for the year it has been installed and leading to it wearing faster. I remember one of the shops replaced the seal in the slave and the replacement came with a longer rod but they kept the oem piston/seal and used the new rod.......should have thrown in the red flag when I saw it, but I don't really question someone who fixes cars for a living. One of the big reasons I tend to do all the work on my car now.

Maybe it will break itself in again? I cant purchase the new disc until the end of the month anyway so I will have to see if it does....Hopefully

Does that seem like the problem here and should be clear with the disc only?
