Staging brake...
Looking to set up a staging brake in the B13. Any suggestions on brands? Does anyone on here even have one besides chappy? How did you go about installing? Haven't seen a thread about this so figured I'd make one. Discuss!

Chappy just sent me a link on one the other day that is badass. Just a little pricey...

I'm probably going to go with an eBay special inline to the rear brakes. Just watch what you're ordering if you want to run it inline vs. separate hydraulic system. A lot of the honda guys do away with their rear brakes and use them strictly for the staging brake. You can still apply them at the end of the track, you just have to be careful not to lock up the rears...or so I read anyways.

Are you on stock brakes? I have a CNC (as in the company) setup on the rally car... The stock rear pistons are so small so getting them to lock is difficult, not terrible when used for staging. You don't need the kind with a separate reservoir (like in above link) unless you have designated calipers. To install you will need to have a line run off the master to the rear, into the staging brake and teed after it. It would be a good idea to eliminate the stock proportioning valve and add a bias prior to the line going into the staging brake...

Had the same CNC in the race car but never go around to installing it. You would stage and just hold it back slightly whiles the car is in first. Once the 2nd orange light just let it go and dump the clutch

That is a nice one Dave but too fancy for me. Got a lottttt of money to spend this year to get the car ready so going to get something functional and less fancy if I can lol.

I do still have the stock rears and I need to keep them functioning off of the foot brake. I really could care less if the stock lines were done away with but unfortunately the rules state "4 hydraulic brakes mandatory." May go for the CNC piece. I just wasn't sure if we needed one with a master cylinder or how exactly guys have T'd into it. Might have to steal ideas from the Honda guys.

Well another way to rig it is grind the gears out of the OEM hand brakes and use it for staging. Its ghetto but it gets the job done.

Yeah that is an option but I never could get the ebrake to hold the car. Tried new calipers, pads, rotors, and cables with no luck. I figure I will do another set of rotors and pads and a staging brake to ensure a full lock so I could keep her still while doing the burnout and preload like my life depended on it, lol.

Cable brake won't hold mine either and the force it takes to hold it back sucks ass. It's nice to have the E brake for trailering etc. as well because the hydro brakes don't hold but for a short period of time.

I've been looking at this one Bes.
