I made this vid last night just for you lol. This is what happens when you run street tires on these cars. I trapped 90mp and should be well into the 7's. With street tires my best was an 8.9 spinning all the way down the track. Listen to the tire squeal. If you listen good enough you can hear its literaly ALL the way down the track. Thats my car! This is with the tires at 22psi. I prob couldve gotten it down to an 8.5 or something. But my best with a slipping clutch last year was an 8.1 or something around there. It was fun though!

I got drag radials. Just didnt get a chance to mount them before the track. BFG's are your friend.

Awwww, I feel special. Just for me?! <3

Well, I am pretty convinced that to make it worthwhile I need to get some drag radials or slicks. I just need to figure out how bad I want to go to the drag strip now as I wasn't expecting to buy another set of tires

I will say though, Gomba, that your on to something. If you cant drive your car on street tires then you either A. Need drag radials as street tires like me. or B. just need to turn down the boost and practice and work your way up. I know with about 2 more runs and 16lbs I wouldve been able to still pull a low eight out of the car. Driving on street tires will make you a better drag radial driver.

There were also guys out there who were ON drag radials and still sucked cause they couldnt drive lol. A 600whp supercharged '11 SS could do anything better then a 8.9 WITH drag radials. So really drag radials will give you the oportunity for the car to shine. But its still all driving even with them. But once you feel grip like a DR has you will never want to go back to regular street tires.

OR you could just do like me. Get slicks and have WOT the entire track. The way that drag racing is SUPPOSED to be lol.

Till your tranny breaks third, fourth, or you snap an axle......Ill take a lil wheel spin. Then Ill drive home on em.

The street tires will be a lot rougher on your trans during shifts than slicks will im telling you that right now. You want to break a gearstack keep shifting hard on street tires. They provide no cusion at all. Ive never broken a gearstack at the track on slicks, ever. And have over 100 passes at over 460whp a lot at around 550whp or more. The slicks will provide much more cusion during shifts, you will have all around way better traction and you will be able to wide open throttle it like your supposed to.

Doesnt matter if you spin the tires or not, it still takes that initial shock to break the tires loose at the shifts. You would much rather have cusion there from the tires. Slicks provide this. Ive always broken gearstacks on the street on street tires. Again that initial shock is what breaks them for the most part.

Slicks may give you a "cushion". But that cushions isnt being taken up by the tires its being taken up by the tranny, clutch, and axles. Whatever floats you guys boats. Of the two trannys Ive broken...both were from an easy roll on into fourth and then fourth stripped. I think the bottom line with these cars is that you have to pay to play. Your going to break tranny's no matter what. Its just a part of these cars. Ill take drag radials over slicks anyday since I can drive home on radials and drive around on them.

Yeah Josh, just let me know. I raced cherry love from on here with his 2860rs at 16lbs and me on the wastegates 14lbs and I could walk him. Itll damn sure be a good race though. Im not going back to the track without having my Radials on. I cant stand knowing I can beat a car. Knowing my MPH is WAY higher then theres. But I still cant beat them lol.

That initial shock when your peak torque and power kicks in on slicks is taken up and absorbed through the tires. Again ive broken gearstacks on easy roll ins on street tires just like you and again when that initial kick takes place. slicks take up a lot of that shock that would have gone into the transmission. Thats all im saying. Again numbers dont lie. But yet to break a trans on the track on slicks, Cant say the same for the 6 stacks i went through in 2 years on street tire rolling 3rd gear and 4th gear punches.

But your right, you can drive home on the street tires and radials but thats why you have a trunk man, It takes all of 5 minutes to change out tires throw the slicks in the trunk and drive away. So whats the big deal of having slicks for track use. Again have fun spinning, cuz hell even on drag radials on high hp, over 450whp your going to spin the hell out of those as well. Mine spun 25" m&h's all the way through 4th at the power im at now. Which is who knows.

Ashton. The tranny issues are neither here nor there cause we both know that if its gonna break its gonna break.

Putting the slicks in trunk is cool. But thats weight that I have to lug around while racing. Cant just leave the rims out or somebody will steal them. Id rather empty my car out, drive down, race, stop by a gas station on the way home and raise my tire pressure back up, and then drive back home.

Ill take drag radials over street tires/slicks on this car all day of the week. And they dont spin that bad. Especially with heat. YOur finger sticks to the tread like bubble gum when they are hot! First spins, then I short shift into second for traction, and then let my responsive ass turbo pull me out Nobody will even know im running radials sine they will be on my flashy 15's. Ill be back with numbers next thursday on drag radials! My clutch is holding up this time also And also with slicks people assume your gonna be out there doing something. With drag radials they think Im just another ricer and I can win some money off that!
