Thread: Instant-on Ka radar in use in CA

Just wanted to give everybody a heads up that the CHP is definitely using instant-on Ka radar. Last weekend I was driving on 395 at night and all of a sudden my Passport 9500 was showing a full signal Ka warning. This was on a straight road with almost no traffic, and I usually get around 2 miles of warning on Ka signals with this detector if the signal is constant. So I got nailed. I wanted to let the rest of you know this was out there. I will be looking into the accuracy of "instant-on" ka readings as I figure a way out of the ticket. He set up just beyond one of the few passing lanes, which was mean, and brilliant, so he got my increased speed from trying to get around a few people.
