SER RallyX Suspension Advise?
So Got the happy car to its 2nd event. And it kinda lived. Some fast times.

But what should I do for suspension? I have no idea.

Also have to replace the radiator, apparently I nosed it over.

What are others doing?

I ran stock stuff for a LONG time! If the car is stripped out and lightened, stock does pretty well. I now have HotBits gravel suspension and it took quite a while to adjust to the stiffer springs and figure out how to set up and drive the car.

Your events look pretty smooth, are they? If so, you might get away with stock springs and stiffer struts, like AGX's. If you have some money and you want to go further with rallying, you can hop on RallyAnarchy.com and look at the SER suspension thread. The set that JVL makes looks super good and isn't really all that expensive ($2000) compared to other stuff of the same ilk (DMS $4500, RS&SP $5-6000).

We've been running stock suspension at rallyx's and it is fine. Our car is totally stripped but also caged.
I am the one that got JVL to build the suspension for the SER but I have issues not with the product (still not tested or installed so can't say anything about it yet) but have a major problem with him. He is not sticking to an agreement he suggested and is trying to screw me several hundred dollars, blaming me and others for it. In other words, he won't man up!. Also, I was promised delivery of the product prior to several times, missed several events (lost entry fees-we are talking about stage rally) but he always came up with lame, BS excuses. I always spoke highly of him and his product and people including friends thought I was crazy. If you order from him make sure all the terms are in writing but I would bet he will not agree to such a thing. I am pretty sure his product is good but the frustration may not be worth it in the end.

I have a question for you:
Did you have issues with the control arms?did you reinforce them? I bent a brand new one at a rallyx a couple of weeks ago after a light hit (light in terms of rally)

Never had an issue with any suspension anything! I don't have the arms reinforced and am running ES bushings all around.

PM me details on JVL. I have some suspension pending with him at the moment as well and would like details before I commit to anything that would add to the drama.

I ran stock springs with AGX struts (full soft front, full hard rear) for years in RallyCross to good effect. Car was fully stripped, and even with the stock springs ran a good inch higher than stock ride height.

I'm pretty sure that a call to Bilstein would allow one to find an HD insert that could be made to work with the car, then add some coilover sleeves like GCs and then you can pick and choose spring lengths and rates.

JVL is who he is, and that's all I've got to say.

For the stage rally SE-R I'm building, I have a set of the inverted Hotbits, but it would be really hard to justify a set of those just for RallyCross.

Stock SE-R front control arms are pretty strong, relative to most cars. I've never bent one in years of rallycross and using the car for stage rally opening. I would be hesitant to beef them up more as the damage might just migrate to the mounting points on the body, and those are a lot harder to swap out than a control arm...

The rear arms, on the other hand... I'm going to build my own tubular arms, maybe even over this weekend. Less effort than pressing the bushings out of the stock ones to install the ES bushings I have on the shelf . . .

Sorry for thread-jack, but I have all rear suspension links (parallel links and control arms) with ES bushings already inserted for sale if you'd like. You'd still need to put the ES bushing in the cast iron knuckle to complete the ES transformation, but let me know if you want any of the set I have.

I'm just using the desire to avoid pressing out the bushings as part of my excuse for building myself some custom parallel links
