Thread: Sr20de not starting after fitting s3 cams(HELP)

So i have fitted the cams,everything bolted up nice,both dowels are pointing to 10 and 12 o clock,with the lobes pointing outwards from the motor on first cylinder,crank pulley mark is 2 from the left,rotor arm is to number 1 spark plug ect,engine turns over like it should,its getting fuel,just will not start up,all i get sometimes is a little noise from the exhaust,like it might start,but very little,whats up ??

what ecu ? bad dizzy ? check your grounds ? coil connected ? valve clearance too tight ?

Right i have now counted 21 links instead of 20 LOL from the dots on the spockets to spokets,so i am one out by the looks of it,do i just move the cam a little till the spocket lines up with the chain link i want ??

remove the tensioner and try to skip a tooth on the chain.

I removed the tensioner and moved the spocket to another link,i now have 20 chain links,all lined up but still i no go,

Also will it start with the vc off,i have been trying to start it with it off,to see whats going on with the cams ect.

triple check the cam timing by rotating the crank again and again to tdc to make sure your cams are right now.dizzy's roughly in the middle? leads on the right way?

Yes to all ^^,i have another battery on charge now to try later,i will post a vid up of the engine cranking over !

You can also grab a friend and try to rotate the distributor to see if the car is more or less likely to start. (not recommended and I am not liable for any damages)
