Engine trouble
got my motor put back together got everything plugged up and what not. went to start it and it wont start. when i try to start it i have to give it gas and conitinue to turn the key. it then starts acting like its gonna start but it sputters then shuts off. when i do get it go start i have to stay on the gas then after a few moments it dies. yall have helped me out on here in the past i need any ideas on what is wrong with it. if you need any more info just ask. i took stock de block put de crank in it with ve pistons and rods.

tore it down to the bare block cleaned it put newer de crank in it put ve pistons and rods in it. new head gasket. and exhaust gasket. new rings, and crank and rod bearings, and a crank seal and that was it

my first estimate is the timing is off. did you set #1 to tdc and set alignment on cam gears to proper marks

Yes I did. I was just told since I'm running ve internals that I need to run the spark plugs for the ve motor. Is this correct ?

Yikes. This is going to be a huge pain because of all the potential variables

start with the basics, check cam timing, check for vac leaks and make sure the plug wires are in the correct spots..

I have checked all my vac lines, checked plug wires, changed distributors, put the right plugs in it, when the motor was built I made sure everything was tdc and the timing chain matched the markings on the crank and cam gears. To get the car to some what start and sputter timing has to be fully advanced and I have to be Atleast quarter throttle if not more. I checked the voltage on my tps and it was perfect. I got it to run for 30 seconds yesturday had to stay on the gas then it suddenly died

When I pull the plugs out they are black and you can see the gas vapor coming out of the spark plug holes
