Another All Motor Build Question Thread
Hi guys,

Just have a few questions about rebuilding my Highport sr20de with 16ve pistons.

I've a block opened up that I recently purchased with suspected head gasket failure so while the whole lot is open I figured I'd fit some 16ve pistons a friend has lying about the place to give the engine a nice bump in compression.

My question for you guys is how to do this, for want of a better word, on a budget. Obviously I'd new piston rings and the bores will need to be honed but what else will need to be replaced? I want to refresh all the seals while i'm at it so need a gasket kit from Gspec but whatever other info you guys can offer please don't be afraid to offer up

Also hello from Ireland! ha

I'd put a vvl oil pump and some roller rocker lifters

I'm holding a Roller Rocker in my shed for a friend of mine who is only using it for the crank and rods for his 88mm 21ve N1 build so I had planned on using the HLA's from it. I've also a lot of slotted shims lying about spare so was going to try Andreas' slotted shim trick to keep the rocker arm in place at higher revs.

Would I really see many benefits using a VE pump on a DE when I wont be revving anywhere close to where VE's go?

Ill get new bearings, gaskets and a bottle and call it a day. There's really no need for the pump and lash adjusters if you ain't going to beat the piss out of it. My 2 cents
