all motor build questions
first off i would like to say hello to everyone i am new to sr20 forum...

ok lets get down to the dirty bits i race a 1991 nissan nx2000 sr20 high port powered on a 1/2 mile dirt oval. heres what i have done to my sr20de already
1)full port and polish including 5 angle valve job stock springs ect...
2)jwt s5 cams
3)full race header 3" to a economy gutted muffler were the cat would be then dumped out under the car

i am currently in a loss for direction seeing as though i want to rebuild the motor and lighten up the bottom end. i want to run the sr16ve pistons to gain higher comp. but i cant seem to find a 87mm piston set. the reason i want a 87mm set is because my machinist wants to bore the cylinders out to true them up. i also plan on running stock rods and would like to run a 4cw crank to save weight and gain faster revs. is it posible to run a 4cw crank with stock sr20de high port rods? any input or ideas would be great! i am shooting for at least 11.5 : 1 comp

I think the SR16 pistons only go up to 86.5mm. Just order a set of CP pistons for the compression ratio you want. You can run the 4CW crank, obviously have it checked out. You might want to look into the VE rods as well. I thought there were some benefits but i am not positive.

i am concerned about valve to piston clearance so that is why i want a set of sr16ve pistons does anyone sell them in 86.5mm with rings and pins? my machinist says that at minimum i should be at 86.5 mm to true up the bores. i cant seem to find any info on even who sells a set of sr16ve pistons at 86.5 mm with rings

The cp pistons will give you more p2v clearance and will also be lighter. You can use your rods w the ve crank.

The rules are bone stock.... No one even thinks of running bone stock the techs have no clue what they are looking at but it is mandatory that you have access to the flywheel for visual inspection and they do actually check so I am going to do all internal lightening. Would love a set of sr16ve 86.5 pistons but looks like cp pistons are going to be the way to go because of availability. My only competition is a h22 with a vtec controller and I eat it alive as it is... Also raced a vvl Nissan destroyed it with a 8 car lead at the end of the race... Remember I only weigh 1950 with me in the nx so weight to power ratio my car is already killer compared to the h22 prelude I race that car weighs 2950 with driver. Basically I want to not only win but flat out beat anything.

ok,maybe look for a vzr flywheel then as a good starting point.stock but lighter.

How about underdrive pulleys and a JWT ECU

Just called gspec they said I can get a cp piston set off the shelf for 540 at 12.5:1 comp... Not to sure but the guy on the phone said they will be 87mm with a 12.5:1 doesn't seem right to me... Also can u use a jwt ecu in a stock case?
