Brian Crower stage 3 cams vs tomei
hay guys im from lil ol NZ and down here we were lucky enough to take the monoply of the autech pulsars back in the day,so i currntly have a 11/5/1cr autech pulsar engine on a stand in my shed.the idear is clean it up polish and port match the intake mani intake ports and exhaust ports n leave the rest stock minus the bolt-ons from my 10/1cr engine out of my TEp10

Question which is better quality and offers better performance out of the TOMEI 272/12.5 or BCs with the same spec

i will probly use bc springs cos thier way cheaper than the tomei ones

TRYED TO EDIT STAGE 3vs TOMEI

I've had the BC STG 3's, and they're great in the upper RPM area above 4krpm. They suck down low. With your CR though, that may be significantly different. You definitely want cam gears to dial the BC STG 3's in.

Thanks for your input, i am going to be buying cams today and im leaning toward the stage 3s since i already have the springs, and they are a little more budget friendly and im not going to dd the car.

Sure thing. I would say that it's likely the BC 3's are a better choice, because I don't know if the Tomei cams are drop in or if they need to be dialed in for best results.

My build was still making power at 8500rpm with the cams straight up on a 8.5:1CR DET with 30r. if I would have adjusted both cams -2 degrees, that would have brought the powerband down lower.

Does anyone have dyno charts with the Tomei 270 or 280 cams with the SR20DE? I put mine in yesterday and would like to know what I'm making.

Every car and every dyno is different. That being said, what does the dyno number mean to you? WIll you not like your car if somebody posts a dyno number from their car that's lower than your expectations?

Uhhh.. yes I know it depends on the car.. but with your tone, what do you work for JWT or something? Let me rephrase: "I would like to see a dyno chart of a N/A SR20DE before and after Tomei 270 cams were installed to have a better understanding of where and when the modification produces more or less power"

if it helps stock cams in my car peaked at 6700rpm makeing 98wkw my pon cams kick in around 3.8rpm and peak power is 6600rpm makeing 118wkw rev limit set at 8k..so the pon cams prove their worth as a drop in cam keeping the power within the stock range..i would say the pro cams are designed to make peak power later and alot more of it.
