Pulleys, pulleys, pulleys!
So, I've been thinking, there's a discussion going on on out little forum (Dutch NX club forums) about pulleys, spacers and what not. One thing that piqued my interest is the fact that an oversized waterpump pulley will decrease the chance of cavitation. Since I'll be running the VE up to (at least) 8k, would this be a good option?

Also, if I'm going to replace the W/P pulley, I thought, hey, why not the rest as well. I've been browsing here and there for good brands, and from what I can tell, only the OBX, Unorthodox Racing and the ones from GSpec are well known.

The problem is, as far as I know OBX doesn't make them anymore, just a crank-pulley that's advertised for a DET. Do you know if it would also fit a VE?

(Click on pictures to go to the respective websites)

UR lists 2 options, the Alternator and the "Pulley set" (underdrive):

Alternator:

Pulley Set:

I'm not sure if the second set is the W/P and Alt. pulleys, or W/P and P/S pulleys.

A guy on my forum told me ISIS also makes a set of 3 pulleys for a DET, excl. the crank-pulley:

Do you know if they would fit a VE? Still no full set...

Also, it seems that Greg only sells the crank- and (oversized) waterpump pulleys.

And finally:

I've always been interested in dressing up the engine bay, and with that 20V valve cover, I thought a set of red pulleys would look great as well. Unfortunately, there's no way to get a complete set in red. Other than the old OBX set, but, as I said, it's not available anymore.

So, in the end, I'm thinking about getting either the full ISIS set in red and OBX crank (if it fits the VE) or GSpec crank and have it anodized.

Or get the OBX crank (if it fits the VE) or GSpec crank , ISIS alt. and p/s pulleys, and GSpec oversized w/p pulley. I would like to anodize the GSpec pulleys then.

Any thoughts?

It wont fit properly. Buy Gspec/UR pulleys and powerdercoat them.

I have the Gspec ones on my DE. You need a spacer for DE, but if you're goin VE then you just need the pulleys. I had to file A tiny notch into my oil pump/front timing cover to get the water pump pulley to fit. It says that on his site though. I'm not sure if you need to do that for VE, but probably so.

Okay, so the ISIS ones are out of the question then. Are the UR ones (the ones I mentioned) for the alt, w/p and p/s?

And they're going on a VE, not a DE.

I know you're putting them on a VE. I was just saying you can use them for either, but a spacer sold by Gspec is needed for the crank if used on a DE. I don't know about the UR pulleys, But GregV sells the W/P and crank for VE, and they work. I know some PPL use the UR, but I don't know which fit. I thought they weren't made anymore for VE/DE/DET FWD?

Well, not sure if they are still produced, but UR lists them on their swebsite, so... I dunno.

the obx pulley doesn't have the timing marks on it like the other pulleys do

I know.

Hmm, I think I'm gonna put this on hold. Someone I know has already bought the ISIS set, and I think I'm gonna wait with this until he has tried them on his DE. If it fits, I think I'm gonna go that way, combining a set with the GSpec crank and w/p pulleys.

If not, well, then I don't know yet, I really want a full set, preferably in red. But I don't want to buy a pulley set for just the alternator or just the p/s pulley.
