ignition timing problem!
I've been trying to do my timing and my question was, does the. Timing have to read the same weather the tps sensor is off or connected?

Im not sure if it should be the exact same both ways or not. If it is, you should be fine. My experience is that it either stays the same or drops about 5 deg with the tps UNPLUGGED.

Mines opposite..on a normal de the stock timing is 15 witch is the middle right? Well when mines in the middle it runs like shit..I have to really push it to get it moving. So I "advanced" and now it runs great but I don't know my timing.so do I check the timing with tps on or unplugged?

you check the timing with the TPS unplugged! I also did not say to retard the timing for more power. I was stating what the timing reading is when it unplugged vs pluged in.

I didn't say you said that lol..okay so my problem is when I set the timing to 15 then plug in the tps it goes down to like 5

ok, well go by the timing value with the tps unplugged. make sure you set the idle speed and blip the throttle over 3K many times.

Only adjust the timing with a light gun with the TPS unplugged. When the TPS is plugged in the ECU constantly makes changes to the timing to get the car to idle correctly. That is why it goes wonky when the TPS is plugged in.

You really only need to unplug the TPS sensor to change the timing value. Everything in the FSM is to ensure the engine is operating correctly, at a good temp, with no major malfunctions in the engine components. I have done this on a dyno. Just unplug the TPS, makes the change, and plug the TPS back in.

What ECU are you using, what octane fuel are you using?
