I think even the sr20ve's depending on which year you get are 11:1. I could have sworn the pistons in my stock ve here pretty close to flat on top with way way smaller valve reliefs than those in the picture. I could be wrong. I dont have a pic of them im trying to go off memory.

its a pretty well known fact that the standard ve is 10.3:! comp, atleast thats what almost everything "current says" anyway heh

Thats exactly how the top of my VE pistons looked but without coating on the skirts. Wish i would have taken a pic of the pistons when i dropped the valve on the motor. I have tons of pics of the head but none of the pistons. Hmmm, thats soo not like me.

Yep those are the 20Vs in Lynch's pic. Good ol' 11:1s. I have a set I bought with low mileage off the forums I'll be using in my other VE and they look exactly like that, skirt coating and all. Ashton if you had these in your regular VE I can only wonder what year your motor was assuming that the long block was untouched when you got it.

it was untouched. Again the valve reliefs were identical to the 20v pistons and same with the dish of the pistons. Only difference was no coating on the skirts. I thought i remember dre saying there were some ve's that had 11:1 compression depending on what year the motor was from. Maybe thats why it ran soo hard for being a stock cam ve. Still cant believe that i didnt take pics of the pistons.

Regular VE piston would yield a 9:5on a DE or very very close when you take into account the valve reliefs. Add about .5 for the 20V pistons.

cool guys thanks for the info!

we took the oil pans off today and #2 rod was toast, it spun in the rod also the crank is pretty groovy..

good ol'benito is going to do some trading with my friend (will let ben chime in) for some sr20ve crank rods an pistons so we're going to have a little hybrid in the family.. i figure with them reliefs he could run some monster cams eh?

oh an the cams an rocker arms are flawless, same with the cylinder bore its also flawless, so thats good news!

well the sr20ve crank rods an pistons are in, we're just reusing the crank bearings cause they looked good, also using the sr20ve rod bearings since they too look good an we made sure to put all the rods back in their stock location on the crank and used lots an lots of assembly lube!

we did sorta rehone the cylinders a little bit, nothin special just a quick refresh, they look good tho i wish i got pics of all this but i didnt have my cam or phone.. i think he took some i'll try to get them..

we also put the head on, using a oem sr20ve head gasket it fits perfect! we just have to put the cams in an an start putting stuff back on the outside of the engine an get it ready to drop in..
