advance or retard the timing
hi, i have a problem i did advance the intake cam with 2deg and retard the exhaust with 2, now i've problem with the timing, its more than 20 degree and the car runs great on all rpm but with detonations when i retard it it dies.
my question is when i retard the exhaust cam do i have to retard or advance the timing to compensate the retard of the cam

I would not play with cam gears and JWT cams. JWT sets those cams up great from the factory. Now if you had other cams like BC cams you would need cam gears to get the most power out of them. Put them back to '0' and '0'!

BTW whats ur ignition timing at 19?

i try them 0,0 but now i feel more torque and power with +2in -2ex, i want to feel them earlyer than the factory setting, my timenig is 20+ i relocated the knock sensor on the top of intake manifold and run the car with fuel stabilizer BARDHAL it runs like crazy ( i drive it with 100octane pump gas )

i just curious how to set the timing with ex cam retarded, also i will next try to do only advance the intake cam i think i'll get more mid power with that setup

check your exhaust cam timing again.
since the distributor is driven off the exhaust cam, when you retard it, you should get a corresponding retard of the ignition timing.
you should be advancing the ignition timing (distributor) after retarding the exhaust cam to compensate.

that's right, that was my question i advanced the distributor and, now i wire up my knock sensor correctly but i relocated it to the top of intake manifold, now the car runs like crazy
