Engine bay color?
I'm planning on repainting my coupe before I swap either my KA or an RB back in. I was thinking of grey for the engine bay, and a different color for the exterior. Should I do this or keep the whole car one color? I was thinking if I went with a grey color, it'd look clean and it'd be easy to touch up. What's the general consensus here? Grey engine bay or same color all over?

Neutral color like gray or black on the engine bay. Then you could paint the exterior whatever without ever painting the bay again.

I would do a really basic gray for the engine bay. Its a very neutral color, so if you decide to repaint your car a different color someday, you won't have to repaint the engine bay.

EDIT:

Damn. What he said... ^

i painted the engine bay (and interior at that) of my racecar gray. it's the industrial grade "machine gray" from rustoleum. that stuff works great and looks great. i lay down a coat of zinc chromate primer, the green stuff that they use on airplanes.

honestly, if i were to paint the engine bay on my street car, i would go with black. black makes the car look really clean and really allows you to show off what you have in the engine bay.

I'd go with glossy black for a nice contrast. Plus, it's really easy to touch up if you have a little mishap while working on the car.

yep. although gray allows you to easily spot a leak. that's why i painted the racecar gray.

Well, since it's not going to be a racecar (although it is an S13 coupe with no sunroof ), so glossy black sounds good. Don't really have a need for spotting potential leaks quick, so it makes sense to go black. Painting it the same color seemed like a good idea to begin with, but a glossy black engine bay definitely sounds nice.

Think I'm gonna go with glossy black..

Thanks guys
