Default What Did You Do To Your B14 Today?

Post here what you do on a daily basis with your B14 vehicles!

Today I replaced the water pump with a new Nissan unit!

Got a new crank seal installed since my old one had begun leaking this past week.

    Also changed drive belts.

Hooray, no more leaking from the front of the engine!!!!

Snow makes it hard to move mine to my shop, so it's been sitting back at my garage on the north side of the county. Once it gets down here, time for a clutch job.

I took it to the car wash after work today for the first time since I've owned it. Funny too since it is 16F outside. But we have an amazing drive in car wash locally that has massive heat blowers and the whole setup is in the center of a building heated to 80F at all times. Car got the full wash/wax and it was dried almost 100% before I even pulled out of the building. Just a small handful of frozen water drops on the rear bumper/fenders when i got home.

Topped off my rad and coolant overflow tank with needed coolant. Some pockets of air must have burped up while it sat overnight or something cause it is bone dry on the engine, finally.

Started cleaning up the engine bay a bit. Got a lot of the dirt and grime off. Took most of the brackets off that were getting surface rust, sanded them, and sprayed them with flat black rustoleum. Took some fine sand paper to the valve cover (still attached lol) and got a big cheesy grin at how good it looks with the crud sanded off (only partially done, will finish tomorrow).

Noticed that from what I can see, my front motor mount is toast. The others have a large amount of rubber in the middle of the big metal ring, the front has a piece of rubber about the size of a skateboard bushing.

Also turned the MAF housing so the MAF would be pointing downwards and hidden from view. Moved the throttle cable to run under the intake rather than over the top of it (Going to look into other options tomorrow)

& Took the bottom half of the stock air box out. Yeah, I'm running stock piping and just have a cone filter shoved into the end of the MAF housing... When I bought the car it was that way, haven't gotten a new intake yet.. I'm sure this isn't the best idea but I don't think it is hurting anything?

That is easier said than done in a B14. Now the B13 guys can easily drop their AC controls down a level to make room for gauges.

You cant unless you render the vent controls useless (the ones that switch from feet to windows et). The wires are easy I think they actually reach but the vent controls are metal rods which cant reach down there.

Damn, I was hoping for an answer of "That is easy, here is how..."
That is the only thing that has been stopping me, I have a nice Alpine double din sitting that I wanted to toss in there, but don't like how low it would be sitting...

Today, drove her to work and it feels great having no more leaks of oil from the crank seal and a shitty water pump on the way out. The new belts give the engine a tab bit more response so that is appreciated. Just feels nice driving her around, I love it.

Prepped for a new clutch. Removed axles, all tranny plugs, ground wires, clutch cable, starter. All thats left to do is unbolt the tranny, remove the old clutch, put the new one in and put everything back together. In 20 degree weather.
