Aftermarket MAFs any good?
My MAF is WAY shot, outputting a peak voltage of 2 volts, and intermittent signal at idle. Power seems to be drastically cut at torque peak, near 4800rpm.

Curious to see if anyone has had good experience with remanufactured / new aftermarket MAFs.

I've heard MAF cleaner can actually break these, so i'd like to have a backup plan before i hit mine with that spray.

BTW, car is a '96 with 220k mi. on the clock.

Thanks.

get a stock replacement. they are cheap enough and you can get 1 from a forum member here

I'd rather not. Consider that the newest one i'm going to find will be 2 years newer, tops.. and probably with 100k+ on the damn thing.

They are $20 at the u-pull-it. I think you will find one from 94-96 G20 if you are a bit lucky.

Also make sure the pins in the connector aren't loose.

I haven't tried to clean mine. It's my primary car and i've heard of things going bad after cleaning..

Maybe what i'll do is go buy a crappy used one, so that if cleaning this one breaks it in some way, i won't be totally hosed.

What i'd plan on doing is checking all the solder joints and running MAF cleaner along it. Hm ya.. time to hit up ebay..
